This
week, we’re pleased to open Sacrifice, from Chen Kaige, director of
Farewell My Concubine. The Hollywood Reporter calls it, “A classical historical drama of grand passions and
humanity…”
We’ve
also got not one, but two film festivals! Beginning July 27th, the
Music Box Theatre presents the best in contemporary French cinema with The Second Annual Chicago French Film Festival. Highlights
include the Opening Night Presentation of A Better Life and Saturday night’s Festival
Centerpiece Beloved, starring Catherine Deneuve. Check out
the full schedule and purchase advance tickets.
Then,
starting Monday July 30th, the Music Box Theatre and Sound Opinions present the
Music Box Summer Music Film Festival 2. The festival includes
screenings of Paul Simon’s Under African Skies, LCD
Soundsystem’s Shut Up and Play the Hits, and Andrew Bird: Fever Year. You can find the full
schedule and purchase advance tickets.
Also,
this weekend is your last chance to catch screenings of Neil Young Journeys and Elena, and tonight is your last chance to see National Theatre Live presents Frankenstein, and
this will be your ONLY chance to catch many of the films in the French Film
Festival and Summer Music Festival. It’s a week of last chances here, so don’t
miss out!
See
you at the movies!
