Illinois Unite Against the War on Women: April 28th

Via press release

College students are being given yet more debt burden, when Stafford student loans are expected to double to 6.4% on July 1st, 2012. Republican representatives are prepared to let this happen.

"We must now choose between allowing interest rates to rise or piling billions of dollars on the backs of taxpayers," stated Rep. John Kline, R-Minn., and chairman of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce (

By "taxpayers," Mr. Kline is referring to millionaires, who already pay less taxes than most Americans. Instead of paying their fair share, the top 1% will continue to benefit from the tax structure, while leaving struggling students - and their families - to pay more out of pocket each month.

Students in Illinois are faring poorly. The state's Monetary Award Program (MAP) grant ran out of funding on March 13th of this year, and has been running out of money earlier every passing year. This greatly affects the financial stability of Illinois families that depend on it. (

American students are at their financial breaking point. Americans can no longer suffer through empty promises and hurtful policies. It's time to vote anti-student legislators out of office. Join us in Lincoln Park on April 28th and let your voice be heard!
