Dan Con will be coming at you 2 times in 2013!

Decapitated Dan

It is with great pleasure that I find myself writing this post for all of you. I have some big news to share and I just can not hold it in any longer. To begin but let’s start with this, Dan Con and T.C.S. (Toys, Comics, and Statues) have formed an alliance. T.C.S. founder Leo Guerrero and myself area teaming up to bring the public 4 shows in 2013. They will all be located at the Orland Park Civic Center. I am excited to work with Leo, because I now have extended my reach in terms of advertising to his audience. That is the only real change in what is going on with Dan Con in terms of the Alliance. I am still in charge of Dan Con and Leo is still in charge of TCS. We plan to cater to the masses by having a Comic Book show, that has a focus on local creators, and now dealer show that focuses on Toys, Comics, and Statues. So there is something for everyone. We have also agreed to have the same entry fee for all of our shows and the same table rates. More information on that is coming soon.

The next part of exciting news to share, goes back to where I said that we would be doing 4 shows in 2013. That is right, you demanded it so it is going to happen.... Dan Con 2013 Spring and Dan Con 2013 Fall! With the success of Dan Con 2012 I wanted to add on a second show, but the Civic Center was booked for the Fall 2012 already. Well I have jumped on top of things and already have the dates set up. So please pay close attention to what is going on.

Dan Con 2013 Spring will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2013, from 10am -4pm. The first thing to note is that I am changing the show to a Saturday. I feel that when it is the cold Winter months a Sunday show works best. However moving further back into the year, I feel it is more than safe to move to a Saturday.
Dan Con 2013 Fall will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2013, from 10am-4pm. The second show will bring plenty of new attractions which I will get into in the next paragraph, but the main thing is that I am adding on a second show.

So here is the big breakdown on how things are going to work for the two shows. Each show will feature 50 creators and 12 sellers. I am moving the creators up to the North Room and moving the dealers to the South Room. So a reversal from the 2012 setup. We are going down on the amount of creators and dealers to try and free up a little space. We all love it when a show is busy, but at times I felt the 2012 show was a little too congested. I will be keeping creators and dealers out of the Hallway this time, leaving it for Galactic Force to run the gaming tournament, the food concessions, and some places for people to sit.

Here is the BIG THING that has to be touched on. Going to other shows, creators are always telling me they want to be a part of Dan Con, and well I don’t want anyone who has already been a part of the show to not have a space to come back to. So by adding on a second show, there has to be a rule put in place. IF you are a creator at the Spring Show, you can not get a table at the Fall Show, and vice versa. This will give you a chance to hopefully come out and sell at one, and then come back out and enjoy the other. This also plays to the advantage of the public. By having a new mix of creators at the different shows, people can check out new things each time they come. So think about what show you want to do. There will be different contracts for both, but all rates will stay the same for both shows. The show split does not apply to dealers.

I can not wait for 2013 to get here! With what Leo and I have planned it is going to be a wild ride and I hope to have you be a part of that fun. In the coming months please be on the lookout for an email announcing the contracts being posted. Remember this works on a first come first served basis. Once I have your contract and payment you are in, but all that info will be coming soon.

Thank you or taking the time to read this. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Just send me an email at danconcomic@gmail.com.
