Arcade Brewery, a new Chicago
craft brewery, recently launched an online fundraising initiative on the
crowdsourcing website Kickstarter
on April 27th. In less than a week, Arcade has already raised over
25% of their $30,000 goal through the online site. Alongside their online
efforts, the brewery has planned a live event to complement their online
fundraising efforts.
The first event will be on Friday May 12th, 2012 at the headquarters of Threadless (1260 W. Madison Ave. Chicago, IL, 60607) from 7:00-11:00 pm. There is a suggested $20 donation at the door and all proceeds will go toward funding startup costs for the new brewery. The event also claims to be a “beer potluck” inviting guests to bring their favorite beers to the event to drink and share. “The Threadless motto is ‘Make Great Together,” said Arcade Brewery co-owner Lance Curran “so we can’t think of a better place to kickstart our fundraiser.”
The brewery has invited a host of bands, acts, and video game designers to entertain guests throughout the evening. Martin Atkins (Public Image Ltd, Killing Joke, Pigface, The Damage Manual, Murder Inc., Nine Inch Nails, and Ministry) will headline DJ and opening acts include Ones Bent to Zeros, Prom Band, and the comedy sketch team Comedy Think Tank.
If music isn’t your thing and you’re a little shaggy, Rock Razors Scissors will be on
hand to give out some rock star haircuts to anyone in attendance. Also on board
are some local independent video game designers showing off some of their new
games including Octodad: Deadliest Catch, the sequel to the splash hit Octodad!
by developers Young Horses and POP developed by Rob Lach.
You must be 21 or older to attend. Limited street parking is
available.
