The trailer for Battleship has also premiered this week. Theoretically, it's based on the board game. Strangely enough, I don't remember big alien ships taking pot shots at Hong Kong in the game. There does seem to be some potential with the cast which includes Taylor Kitsch (John Carter, but don't hold that against him), Alexanders Skarsgard (TrueBlood) and Liam Neeson (any movie that the past 10 years that requires someone who can actually kick some ass). It also has Rihanna. Not sure if that's good or not.
I usually go by the theory if a movie can add to the franchise, then it could be worth doing. I'm not sure if the game Battleship has a franchise to begin with, so that makes basing a movie on it a little bit iffy. However, I'm also a sucker for any movie with BIG explosions and panic in the streets. We'll see. Take a look at the trailer from Universal Pictures below and let us know what you think.
