Wizard World Mourns Passing Of Pop Culture Icon Davy Jones

NEW YORK – Wizard World, which produces Comic Cons and pop culture conventions across North America that celebrate graphic novels, comic books, movies, TV shows, gaming, technology, toys and social networking, mourns the passing of multimedia star Davy Jones, who died Wednesday in Florida. Jones, best known as a star of “The Monkees,” a television series turned recording group, was a popular guest at the 2009 Wizard World Big Apple Comic Con and had been scheduled to appear at Wizard World shows in Philadelphia and Chicago this year.

A pop culture icon from his starring role in “The Monkees” (1966-68), Jones's music, movies, theater and television career was punctuated with a celebrated guest appearance on “The Brady Bunch” in 1971.

The Manchester, England-born Jones was 66.

The Wizard World family and its fans wish to express heartfelt condolences to Mr. Jones' family.
