have a huge week of events planned for you! First is our 2012 Oscar-Nominee Week, which includes screenings of some of

Last but certainly not least is our continuing series Second Saturday Silent Cinema. Next up is the 1921 Roscoe “Fatty” Arbuckle classic LEAP YEAR. Oh, and if the only thing you know about Roscoe ‘Fatty’ Arbuckle is the name, you’d be well served to check out his Wikipedia page here. He literally invented the Hollywood scandal.

The
84th Annual Academy Awards will occur on February 26th 2012, and here is your
chance to see some of the nominees you may have missed on the big screen! This
series will feature some of our favorites form 2011, some films that never
opened in Chicago, and a SUPER SECRET SCREENING of a film that has
not yet been released nationwide!
The
Music Box will continue it’s exclusive Chicago screenings of “A SEPARATION” as well as the first and only chance to see the
2012 Oscar Nominated Documentary Short Subject Program. A new film from
Drafthouse Films, “BULLHEAD” has only been screened in
Chicago as part of the Chicago International Film Festival before these
screenings.
The entire week will culminate with a special and secret screening of a
film Thursday, February 16th at 7:30 that has not been seen in Chicago but has
been nominated for an Oscar. Only the first 200 in attendance will be allowed
in, and special instructions to RSVP will only be given
to people when they purchase tickets to other screenings of our special Oscar
week series.

THE HOTTEST NIGHT OF WINTER: For the 10th year in
a row, Michelle L’amour brings Chicago the ultimate Valentine’s Date Show. This
year Big SEXY Show promises to be another stunning and
eclectic mix of burlesque and fantastical vaudeville. The Chicago Starlets, the
World’s Best Burlesque Group (2010) lead the charge with sexy new acts and

Theatre. Burlesque, Comedy, Vaudeville, Circus…all will be represented at
Michelle L’amour’s Big SEXY Show – Chicago’s HOTTEST NIGHT OF WINTER. The World’s Best Burlesque Group (2010), the Chicago
Starlets will dazzle and delight with tantalizing teases, Toronto comedy duo
Parker and Seville will entice the audience with “Vaudeville Shaped Words”,
world renown beat-box artist Yuri Lane will blow your mind and much more. Not to
mention the director/producer of the show, Michelle L’amour, bringing down the
house with another stunning striptease – the kind that earned her a Top 5
Burlesque Stars in the World for the 3rd year in a row. (21st Century

Studio L’amour opened officially in June of 2008 in response to the overwhelming call for Michelle L’amour to open her own burlesque instruction school. She had been teaching The L’amour Method for many years across the globe (at festivals, workshops, and shows) and took the leap to open her own brick and mortar facility.

This
Valentine’s Day, Music Box Theatre is proud to present two of the best romances
to ever grace the silver screen! On Sunday, February 12th at 2pm we will screen
Breakfast At Tiffany’s featuring Audrey Hepburn’s iconic
performance as Holly Golightly. The film will be preceded by a Sweetheart
Sing-Along, featuring the songs that make your heart swoon!

Then,
on Valentine’s Day, February 14th at 7:30pm, come see the The Princess
Bride, the fairy tale that puts the “Comedy” in “Romantic-Comedy”.
Featuring pre- show entertainment that includes a costume contest. Dress up as
the dashing Inigo Montoya, the beautiful Buttercup, the gentle Fezzik, or any of
your other favorite characters!

This
1921 comedy, filmed at the height of Roscoe “Fatty” Arbuckle’s career, was
completed just days before the scandal that ruined his career. This film was
never released in this country and has only surfaced in film festivals in recent
years.
Leap
Year, (1921) was the last film Roscoe Arbuckle completed before the
scandal that ended his on-screen career. He was accused of the rape and murder
of actress Virginia Rappe. Although he was later cleared of all charges, the
film companies were reluctant to give him any major roles. Ironically, this
story’s plotline involves a young man (Arbuckle), heir to his misogynistic and
millionaire uncle, and in love with a nurse, who gets in trouble when he gives
advice on marriage to his girlfriends.
Jeremiah Piper (Lucien Littlefield) is a grumpy millionaire with a fool for a nephew, young Stanley Piper (Arbuckle), a fellow who falls in love with every girl in sight. As the guardian of a large fortune that will fall to Stanley some day, Jeremiah is determined to keep his bumbling nephew away from the kind of women whose pulse quickens at the sight of a rich man.
